What to do in the North Fork Valley?
Try to contain your disbelief (and sense of vertigo) while peering into the incomprehensible 2000' gash of the Black Canyon, take in the photogenic 700' high volcanic monolith we call "Needle Rock", spend an afternoon or two exploring the organic farms, orchards and wineries of the North Fork Valley (Hotchkiss/Paonia area). Seek out the the local art scene - including North Rim Glass Studio just down the hill. Savor a farm-to-table dinner, or better yet, go straight to the source and gather the finest fruits of the earth and enjoy it fresh -right now! Notice the not-so-faint echo of our ranching history - the evidence is all around. Hunt or fish for your family's sustenance. Hike, or explore our trails on horseback. Be still, observe and allow your being to be altered by this rare and wonderful place - you will be glad you did - you may even find it hard to leave.
